Post-Treatment Guidelines
General Post-Treatment Instructions:
- Immediate Care: Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 6 hours after your mesotherapy treatment to prevent irritation and infection.
- Physical Activity: Refrain from strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and other physical activities for at least 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress to the treated area for short intervals (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) to reduce swelling and bruising.
- Makeup: Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection and irritation.
- Sun Protection: Protect your skin from direct sun exposure by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, and avoid tanning beds.
- Alcohol and Medications: Continue to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
- Hydration: Stay well-hydrated to promote healing and maintain skin elasticity.
Additional Tips:
- Sleep Position: Try to sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first few nights to minimize swelling and pressure on the treated areas.
- Skincare: Resume your regular skincare routine after 24 hours, but continue to avoid exfoliating products for a few days to minimize irritation.
- Avoid Heat: Avoid exposure to heat sources such as saunas, hot tubs, and hot showers for at least 48 hours as heat can increase swelling.
Results and Maintenance:
- Results: The effects of mesotherapy can vary, with some patients noticing improvements within a few days, while others may require several sessions to achieve desired results.
- Longevity: Results typically last several months and maintenance treatments can help sustain your results. Your provider will recommend a treatment schedule based on your individual needs and goals.
- Follow-Up: Schedule follow-up appointments as recommended to monitor your progress and plan future treatments.
Potential Side Effects: While mesotherapy is generally safe and well-tolerated, some patients may experience mild side effects such as:
- Redness and Swelling: Temporary redness and swelling at the injection sites are common and usually subside within a few hours to a few days.
- Bruising: Minor bruising can occur but typically resolves within a week.
- Tenderness: Some tenderness at the injection sites is normal and should subside within a few days.
- Itching or Mild Discomfort: Some patients may experience mild itching or discomfort, which usually resolves quickly.
